Lindsey Williams Workshop – Austin Maternity, Newborn, Child & Family Photographer : Sasha G. Photography

Wow, it’s been a long time. I can’t believe it’s been three months since I last blogged. It’s been quiet in the blogging hemisphere at SGP but business has been busy. But amidst all the craziness I managed to sneak in and attend a newborn session. Many people ask me all the time if I have a degree in photography. My degree is in management with an emphasis on marketing but I have spent many hours teaching myself with classes and being mentored by other experienced artists and spending the last 4 years focusing my attention on babies. In late April I had the opportunity to mentor with Lindsey Williams in San Antonio. She is a very talented artist born out of Oregon who flew down to teach us four ladies in a San Antonio studio.

2 Days in the New Born in Heaven Pictures

After 4 years they are still things I want to fix and work on. My goal in this meeting was to work on analysis, planning and taking everything that could improve my departments and work management. The first day we had 2 new born models. The first child was a dream. He just slept through it all. During this episode we saw Lindsey’s face but we were able to film and test camera angles. It was an eye opener for me to see how she looks at her light source to get that beautiful glow that I love in all of her photos. The second child was a bit smelly and didn’t want to sleep at all. When we heard that we had failed to follow the example of the second child we went to have tacos and tequila. We all love to talk about the one thing we love the most.

The next day we had one example where the 4 of us who attended were able to play a game that we would struggle with. But baby number 3 wasn’t much of a sleeper so we both struggled a bit. After lunch we worked on cleaning. Overall it was a great experience and I can see the difference in my sessions. Below are a few photos from the workshop and sessions I have done so far at SGP. Have fun!
