Freemie was one of the first companies to offer bra collection cups to create a discreet pump. Often some pumps come with flanges that are very similar to old loudspeakers. The pump that comes with it is very quiet at around 50 decibels and is praised for being smart and hands-free, despite being wired. Most breast pumps are very noisy, so they cannot be used in public, let alone in the office with colleagues around.
The Freemie Liberty Pump however does not allow working women to work on their computers while pumping, at home, on the go, or at the office. Assembly and cleaning is also easy. Charging can be done with a USB connector on a computer, car, or wall box.
A powerful cycle called Turbo Mode pulls a little but was no easier for our testers than the strong suction on other pumps like Medela. Lower settings correspond to higher absorption levels, i.e. 0 is the highest setting.
Women love this pump especially because the collection cups fit inside the bra, allowing for more work while the machine does its job. Another good option is to buy them yourself collection cups which may be compatible with other pumps (see below).
Freemie Collection mugs
The new next-generation closed cups are compatible with several pumps, including the Freemie Liberty and Independence Pump, Freemie NUK Simply Natural, Spectra S1, S2, 9+, M1, Evenflo Advanced Double Electric, etc. Freemie Original Open System Collection cups are compatible with Hygeia Enjoye, Q, Medela Pump In Style, Symphony, Lactina (but not Swing, Freestyle and Sonata pumps).
Freemie cups hold 8 oz., providing plenty of energy to keep most moms from stopping and emptying them. Casting them requires a bit of technique – we recommend practicing with water first so you don’t spill any liquid gold!
