Finding Baby Sorrill: WE’RE LEARNING!!

Wes and I are excited to announce that we are starting the ADOPTION process! We thought it was appropriate to tell everyone today on Mother’s Day, since I WILL BE a mother, we still haven’t had a day to be fulfilled. This decision has been on our hearts for a long time and we have peace and joy knowing that it is the way that God is leading us. We can’t wait to see what happens and meet our baby!

For those of you who don’t know us or what brought us here let me fill you in a little. We have been trying to start a family for two years now and I was diagnosed with endometriosis last year. We were hoping that with surgery and hormone therapy I would be able to conceive naturally but we still haven’t. This has been difficult for me because I have dreamed of having a good family all my life since I was a child. It seems like the dream is being taken away from me, yet it comes so easily to everyone around me. So when we started to realize that this was not going to happen for us as planned, it was very difficult.

We always wanted to adopt, we just thought that once we had a few kids and I was a stay at home mom then we would do it. We did not know that God has other plans for us. It’s been a long and bumpy road to get here, but we couldn’t be happier and more excited to begin this new journey of growing our family through parenting. My wounds are slowly healing and I know that once we hold our baby for the first time, it will all be worth it. We already love our future child very much.

So here are some answers to questions I’m sure you’re all wondering.

Where are we when we do this:
We are at the beginning. We just sent in our form and signed our first check to start our home study last week. The home study is conducted by a social worker and takes about three months to complete. It includes things like background checks, drug tests, physicals, psychology, home visits, references, etc. It’s very difficult. Over the next three months we will be saving as much money as we can so that we can register with the agency as soon as possible and become a waiting family. We are also hoping and praying that there may be a chance for us to find our beloved child through friends and family.

We are from:
We are taking it home. We can pick up from anywhere in the United States. Although we would love to adopt from another country, the waiting time is several years and it is very difficult and difficult, especially at home, and with Wes being in medical school right now it doesn’t make sense at this point. We both hope to expand our family later by adopting other countries.

How to apply:
Please pray with us for our precious baby, who is probably already being formed in his mother’s womb. Please pray that God’s hand will be upon our child throughout the growth of the womb. Please pray for the expectant mother of our child, that she will take care of her body and her child as best she can. Please pray for her heart as she makes a plan to raise her child, that she will be confident in her decision to give her child the best possible life. Please pray for our home study to go smoothly and quickly, and for anything related to the organization/law of things.

How you can help:
In addition to praying, please remember us if you know someone who is expecting and considering adoption. Often the best way to connect with an expectant mother is to connect online and find out that someone who knows someone who knows someone is looking to find a home for their child.

Thank you for following us and supporting us on our journey to find baby Sorrill!! and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
