Managing Sleep at 6 Months with Your Baby – Moms Are Singing

Are you feeling tired for 6 months fall asleep? You are not alone. Just when you think you’ve mastered one part, another curveball comes along. But never fear, Moms on Call are here to guide you through your baby’s sleep and help you stay awake “continuation of sleep”which is an exciting step forward in your child’s healthy development.

Understanding Sleep Relapse

At Moms on Call, we refer to these challenges as “progress” or “developmental success”. These are the times when your child sleeps well, without being sick.

It usually lasts 3-5 days, this “progress” occurs after 6-8 weeks and sometimes it appears every other week!

Why Do Sleep Disorders Occur?

This often coincides with major events in your child’s life. From learning more about their environment to learning new skills like rolling over or sitting, there’s a lot going on in their little world.

During this “progress”, you can also see a change in eating habits. A lot of confusion during feeding is common when your baby is curious about the world around him.

What Can You Do During This Deep Sleep?

  1. Don’t Quit the Habit: Review your Mom’s current On-Call status and make changes if necessary. Consider moving to the next routine or using your 15-minute grace period to be a little more consistent. Taking a nap or changing the evening meal may also help with progress.
  2. Configure the Environment: Create a comfortable sleeping environment with a safe bed, sound system, and appropriate clothing (think sleeping pads instead of sleeping bags to make rolling easier). Ensure natural light in the bedroom and a dark room for a good night’s sleep.
  3. Consistency is Important: Find out where you can add consistency to your daily routine. Try to get two naps in the crib if possible and establish a bedtime routine that includes diaper changes, snuggles, story time, and relaxing music while you go.

  4. Encourage Action: Set aside time during the day for your baby to learn new skills such as rolling over, sitting up, and babbling. This not only helps their growth but also helps them get tired so they can sleep better during their development.
  5. Prepare Feeds: Make sure your child is getting enough food and minimize distractions at mealtimes. Consider starting a sippy cup during a solid meal to encourage extra ounces.

  6. Take care of cutting teeth: Teething can also be associated with progress. Although it doesn’t always require immediate action, watch your baby for signs of discomfort such as persistent crying, fussiness, or fever, and consult your pediatrician if necessary.

Remember, sleep progress is only temporary. With the patience, consistency, and support of Moms on Call, you will visit them like a pro.
