Real experiences and breastfeeding stories – Karen Kimmins Newborn Photography

Charlotte’s Breastfeeding Story –

I always knew I wanted to try breastfeeding, but I didn’t want to push myself too hard because I know many women struggle with this for various reasons.

Right after Sophia was born our midwife helped her latch which wasn’t easy as I had just had an emergency c-section and the anesthetic meant I was shaking uncontrollably (my husband was very supportive and told me not to worry about the shakes as he now has his first milkshake). 😂 This did not stop him from sticking well and picking up this skill easily.

The first 3-4 weeks had me going down on my toes and breathing heavily on every first string. There was blood, itching, milk spray EVERYWHERE and using SOME muslin which made it difficult to keep going, but once we got past that stage it got easier and easier and she is really happy on the boob now and seeing her smile between feeds just proves her amazing development and our special bond. ❤️

Plus being an amazing feeder means we don’t have to worry about packing extra eating utensils. It’s hard to get out of the house on time with all his stuff.

Also, many people asked me how I feel when I breastfeed in public and to be honest I have never seen it as this story, if my child needs to breastfeed then he will get it, if someone does not like to see it then I am not sorry because his story is not ours and it is not necessary to frown or ask questions these days.

All I can say to you is try to take each day as it comes and don’t worry about other people’s comments. It is your journey with your children and you control your own path.
