Choosing to live the life of a budding photographer has its perks. One such feature is the ability to include all family members in the photos, including the family pet. Personally, I like dogs a lot. When I walk into my client’s home and see a furry four-legged friend, my heart skips a beat. I just know in that moment, that this part will be very interesting. A dog can add a lot of energy and character to a part of a picture.
This baby’s name is Bernie and he loves his baby sister very much. He is also one of the smartest dogs I have ever seen and is exceptionally aware of what is going on around him. You might think, based on these pictures, that we used a lot of training and inspiration, but you’d be surprised to learn that no inspiration was needed. Bernie followed the camera and posed in the best possible way. He just loves the newest member of the family and if he doesn’t stop he will kiss him all day long.
Something tells me that Bernie and his baby sister are going to be best friends.
Helpful Tips
One thing to keep in mind before including your pet in this session, is the dog’s energy level. If possible, it is better to give him a good long walk before shooting. Walking helps bring joy and energy down and makes it easier for an artist to work.
