Except For The Time Of Birth | Artist From Northern Virignia | Newborn-Maternity Photographer In Washington DC

This post has been a long time coming – as it was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in all my years as an artist. As you all know, my business (along with the rest of the world) was closed in April 2020, due to Covid-19. I will never forget talking to a mom who had just delivered her new baby, and we were supposed to have our photo session the week of April 15th. We all decided to “leave it for two weeks” and meet “when this monster passes us by”. HA. It’s an unfunny joke, how crazy, looking back now. Needless to say, it was months before I officially went back to work, and this baby’s birth session was my first session after closing my doors for several months. We were all nervous about how this would work, walking into their home for the first time and photographing a three-month-old newborn. I had photographed all three of their siblings as part of their newborn, so this family was perfect for this new challenge. Like many things in life, this role has been one of my favorite things I’ve ever done. The baby didn’t have any problems at all – and we had the beautiful naked scenes that we love to do with newborns. We should also include sweet pictures of our siblings and family photos that we love to do. The newborn phase of self-isolation in the early days of Covid-19 will always be with me, as a reminder that life goes on whether we want it to or not, and that the memories we keep are as important as ever. This lady told me as I was leaving, “I can leave the restaurant, but I can’t leave my pictures!” I agree mom, I agree!
