Finding Baby Sorrill: Allowed for parents

This was posted on 8/19/2016 but my blogger app didn’t publish it like I thought it would. Our homework is over!! After our last meeting with the social worker in mid-July, we waited 5 weeks for the home study to be written and completed. This means we are now legal. We are licensed, licensed parents lol.

I was so excited when our home study copy came in the mail. It’s different from what I expected. I don’t know what I really expected, I guess I didn’t know. But it’s 13 pages and it’s basically a detailed account of our lives. It’s like a college essay that covers everything from our childhood, our upbringing, our family, our education, how we met, our dating/marriage, how we plan to discipline our children (did I mention we had to sign a promise not to spank our children?), what we plan to do with childcare, how much education, how much money we make….

We first applied for our home study on May 3rd. And we received our finished copy on August 20th, so it took about 3.5 months from start to finish. That’s not bad. I was hoping we could do this sooner because I’m desperate to have a baby in my arms, but I think we’ve done really well.

So we are now officially registered with four different agencies in Florida. These are all organizations that our CAC consultant works with and promotes. So now that we’re a waiting family, I guess we’ll just have to wait. I have never been happier waiting. And I’ve been trying to figure out how this wait compares to the two-week wait. The two-week wait is the two weeks after ovulation that you wait before you know whether to take your period or your pregnancy test. I think the difference is, I know I will get my exam (figuratively) at the end of this wait, I don’t know how long the wait will be. And THIS is fun!! I feel like I’m pregnant but I don’t have a due date, or any other information. It’s a feeling that

Do you want to know what happened to me the other day? I was thinking about my journey with God during all of this. All the anger I felt last year, and all the thoughts of “how can God be good when He is holding something so Good from me” etc. It was a HARD time going through fertility treatment and getting bad after bad. I felt like God hated me. I felt broken and if I should have done something to not be a mother. My last crazy cycle of pills was February and March, obviously I didn’t get pregnant and I was depressed. But, then I had this idea. Maybe our baby was pregnant, or was about to be born, but she wasn’t pregnant with me. And I bet God was up there, smiling on my tear-stained face, saying “just trust me. You don’t know this yet, but your child GAVE, and you ARE the mother, you don’t know it yet”. But I focused on ME so I wouldn’t get pregnant. I had no idea it would happen so quickly. I don’t know how it happened so quickly. We went from planning to do months of fertility treatment to actually WANT TO USE IT HERE. And here we are, just a few months later waiting for the call that a loving, wonderful expectant mother has chosen us and we are new parents to a precious baby.
