How to Feed a Dangle (Step by Step!) – Milkology®

Dangle Pumping (or Dangle “Expressing”)

Expressing your milk by hand can be very helpful here, and you can do this while nursing! Place a towel under your breast to catch any milk that comes out, hang your breast down, and then start massaging the area where the blockage is, moving it up and down. You can squeeze gently, where there is a latch, or on the breast to express your milk.

Dangle Feeding and Mastitis

WARNING: Sometimes acne can become infected. If your nipples are warm, the skin is red or streaked, and you develop a fever or flu-like symptoms, you may have mastitis, which is an infection of the breast. Sometimes mastitis goes away on its own when the blockage is removed, but in most cases you need antibiotics.

If your fever/flu symptoms last more than a day or more, ask your health care provider for help and antibiotics.
