Welcome baby Preston! Small baby, small ears and small fingers! The baby boy was born early and spent a few days in the NICU before going home with his parents and older brother. He was a dream to have in my studio, and his big brother was a wonderful person to photograph. Preston did so well, he didn’t wake up when we put him in his place. We were able to create a whole picture of family, siblings and friends.
How to Survive the NICU
New parents are looking forward to bringing their baby home, so it can be frustrating to find a mother discharged while the baby is still in the intensive care unit. At first it may seem like a scary place where the machines are beeping and the nurses are running, but you will find that they are the only ones who really enjoy hearing your baby shake the dishes. Know that the Doctors and Nurses who interact with your little one know in advance what treatment they will give you. You’ll also want to take some time to bond with your child, and if the hospital allows, bring pictures and a blanket of them to make it feel like home. Remember that it’s temporary, and when your little one gets to wear a homecoming outfit, it will be so sweet.
