The Daily Prompt I chose “Baby” as babies have always caught my attention.

I stayed with German guests for a few days earlier this week as an airbnb host. People can book rooms in my room at my place for one day. I have to be careful to block the days I have an appointment. It reminds me a bit of my work as a health visitor. Then I also had to check my calendar many times to find unexpected places and many years ago, when we had electronic calendars, my friends could book meetings with you if your calendar appeared empty.
The German guests brought their 15-month-old son. Fortunately, I have a lot of things in the house for that age. Cots, baby carrier, car seat, high chair, changing table and appropriate toys.

He was happy to be with me. I noticed that he “talked” like all the other babies of that age. Babies make all these words to express themselves and they are the same in all countries.
I wasn’t their Health Visitor so I shouldn’t spoil anything but it’s hard to leave the job. I said one thing. His car development did not progress much. He had just learned to walk and one foot turned outwards like a tip. She was wearing tight and slightly stiff shoes in the house. The father took care of her while her wife was in college on a German teacher training program.
I told him that it would be good for him not to take off his shoes in the house at times so that he could move his feet without hindrance when crawling and walking. The father immediately explained to their pediatrician who advised the parents to ALWAYS wear shoes when walking.
A great way to learn steps

His mouth was always open. I didn’t say anything because they knew better. But if they were interested I would tell them that language development is like a family dance. The parent says something and the toddler repeats it. It goes the other way too, a curious child points to something and “asks” with an interrogative word. Parents understand and respond clearly.
The game between parent and child is repeated until something interesting happens. The piece in the child’s mouth interferes with his speech. A pacifier is good for its purpose when the baby is tired and needs it, it is useless for a strong baby. A pacifier for a long time removes the front teeth.
It is very difficult for me to remain silent about the things I see that are so obvious and clear when they use wisdom.
I wanted to make him a real meal while he was here. I don’t know what they were given so long between breakfast and bedtime. Among them were these modern tubs of fruit and cereal. I think it’s good because companies are allowed to make baby food so they only use good ingredients.
Children will no longer see what “Tube” food looks like and will not be able to learn to use a spoon or fork to eat. I would say that it would help on a train or bus journey to survive the journey. I failed to make oatmeal and apples for him and I saw that he had already eaten it.

She has good parents who love her and she will be fine, but I can’t ignore what I see and hear because I’m so used to it over the years of working in family health counseling.
If they wanted to feed more into their parenting I would thank them for not putting their heads in their phones while the child is awake. It pains me to see so many parents getting so caught up in their online lives on their phones instead of prioritizing spending time with their children.

The child’s sense of self-worth or sense of inner self will be damaged if the child looks into the eyes of his parents in vain. A message will be received:
“You are not important to me”.
A child needs to sleep a lot so there should be a break from the online life.
