Fleeing the Plague | Family unit at SEa Ranch
It’s the beginning of the New Year, I’ve been thinking about all the episodes I did in the terrible year of 2020. One that comes to my mind as my favorite, was the episode I filmed at Sea Ranch. Sea Ranch is a popular beach resort about 2 hours north of San Francisco. All the houses are uniquely built in a wooden style (integrated with the surrounding area) and are strategically placed on Coastal Highway One. Also, I stumbled upon this NY Times article, which caught my attention. Throughout the pandemic, I was hoping to stay for a few days and I looked carefully at Airbnb for the best deals and availability, which was difficult because it seemed like everyone had an idea to escape to nature. After I completely abandoned the idea, one of my former clients asked me if I would be willing to go to Sea Ranch to photograph her family. A client of mine, vacationed there and got married there. So for them the place had a very special meaning. With the arrival of their second daughter, they wanted the family unit to be very special in one of their favorite places. They offered us a photo session to spend a week at their Sea Ranch home and I was so happy I did a happy dance. At first, I wasn’t sure how things would turn out since I had never done this before, but it was worth the effort to figure it out.
We got everything ready, and soon we were on our way to the beautiful Sea Ranch. I had so much fun capturing this family’s part and taking a much needed break.
