The Importance of an LLC in Your New Healthcare Business
Before setting up your NCS business, there are a few steps you should consider. You want to give your new business the best chance for success, and creating a business plan is a great place to start. One of the first decisions you need to make is your business. And for many small business owners, an LLC is the right choice.
What is an LLC?
There are many types of businesses that you can choose from. There are partnerships, sole proprietorships and companies to name a few. But for many small businesses, a Limited Liability Company, or LLC, is the right choice. LLC status can provide you with many advantages and reduce risks if your business goes into trouble.
Why an LLC is Important for Your Business
An LLC offers the same tax benefits as you would find in a partnership or sole proprietorship. These are combined with limited loans that are usually only available to corporations. This pass-through means that profits and losses “pass through” to each member of the LLC. This way, the information can be included in their federal tax records.
“Limited” in the business means that the liability of each member of the LLC consists of a fixed amount. This is usually the amount the member has invested in the business. A member of an LLC is not responsible for any of the company’s debts, beyond that amount.
How to Form an LLC
There are a few steps you can follow in forming a Limited Liability Company. The process varies by state, but usually includes the following:
Name Your LLC
Make sure your business name accurately describes your Newborn Care Specialist business. This is especially important if your business will have an Internet connection because it facilitates Internet searches. You’ll want to make sure your domain name isn’t already taken and that the link you want is available if you want to have a website.
Choose Your Registration Agent
The Registrar is the person who will be responsible for sending and receiving documents on behalf of the company. You can nominate anyone on your team including yourself. But you may want to consider using a Registered Agent Service to make things easier.
Group Documentation File
This can be done online in most countries or you can download a form to submit.
Create an Employment Agreement
This is a fairly straightforward legal document that outlines the structure, ownership and basic procedures for your LLC. Although not difficult, it is one of those documents that you may want to leave to a lawyer.
Protect Your EIN
This is either your Employment Identification Number or your Federal Tax Identification Number. Think of it as a Social Security Number for your business. You get this number after you form an LLC and it can be completed online from the IRS.
Starting your own babysitting business is an exciting part, and by following these guidelines for your area, your LLC structure will protect you and allow you to succeed professionally.
