Trust your instincts as a Parent #SahiWaliFeeling

The Internet has brought the world to our fingertips. There is a lot of useful information available on every topic! But, of course, there is another side to it. It can be difficult for a new mom when you see conflicting opinions online and don’t know what to believe. Add to that the advice given by your closest loved ones and it’s enough to make anyone feel inadequate as a mother.

Trust your instincts as a parent #SahiWaliFeeling

“Behind every child who believes in himself, there is a parent who believed first”

One thing I have learned over the years as a mother is that one must ignore the cacophony and trust their instincts, otherwise we can enjoy the amazing journey of motherhood. It started right after I gave birth to my son. I wanted to quit my job to stay home with my son, but I had a million doubts in my mind along with other pressures. I was told that I would regret it after a few months and want to go back, but I trusted my instincts and took action. 10 years since I haven’t regretted that decision even for a minute.

“Mother nature tells you what to do long before your head realizes it”

I strongly believe in this and my maternal instincts have served me well over the years. A few days ago, a friend of mine told me that her three-year-old son was sick because of the change in weather. He has recently moved to India and is finding it difficult to adjust to the new environment, especially the amount of unsolicited advice he has been receiving. She said, her child is very sad, and she felt like a bad mother because she could not give him ginger juice which the child refuses. Yes, she saw a doctor and her son recovered in a few days. And that made me think of similar situations in my life when I was questioning my abilities as a mother. I told her that she knows her son very well and that mother # SahiWaliFeeling does not betray us.

“After everything a child achieves, there is a mother who thinks she is doing everything wrong”

These words are true. I remember when my daughter was a baby. I used to compare everything I did, whether it was food, clothes or diapers. I remember choosing my daughter’s school after much research and my daughter who loved her sports started hating the place and cried every day. It was a terrible time and I know personally that I blamed myself for that decision. We did a lot of research before choosing another school and we chose one school, which was new unlike the old famous school, but somewhere in my heart, I knew it was right. We transferred him to a different school and for the first few weeks, I remember taking a break. Fortunately, it suited him.

I recently saw a commercial with Huggies India – #SahiWaliFeeling and that affected me. It took me back to when my daughter was a baby and I chose Huggies over other diapers because they just felt so good! I loved that the film reaffirms the bond between mother and child through faith and encourages mothers to trust their instincts over external noise and celebrate any success that comes with it.

Huggies SahiWaliFeeling

I think it’s amazing that a trusted brand like Huggies has taken it upon itself to encourage women to believe in themselves and know that this journey for women is one of self-discovery. We all try our best to learn on the job and more often than not, it’s our children who teach us.
