Are you looking for unique maternity photo ideas? If so, check out this blog post. It can spark the perfect inspiration to plan your dream maternity shoot. This segment was filmed at a private horse ranch where we were able to use my client’s regular van as our prop.
Sometimes when you think of maternity photo props you may think of traditional things like baby shoes or sonogram photos but they can be sophisticated and unique. If chosen carefully and with purpose, props can add another dimension to the scene.
Props can have a special meaning or provide a background for your visual story. For example, my clients brought a crossword puzzle book because they play the game together every Sunday. The time they spent together at the game meant a lot to them and was a plus for us. When they started posing for the photo, they shared a special moment and smiled and laughed, it was as if I wasn’t there. I had to remind them that we had to go to something else because the sun had set. Another thing they wanted to include was a children’s book. As they read the classic “Guess How Much I Love You” their hands became very emotional and you could see the excitement and anticipation for what was to come.
When planning your maternity session, I recommend that you start with an idea. Once you have a big idea, you and your artist can move on to planning. Props aren’t essential, but they can help you tell a story. Choose wisely.
These centerpieces were the first part of the Baby to Bump package that I offer. I can’t wait for the second episode where I get to meet the little baby that is hiding in these pictures.
