What happens when people feel guilty starts to back away from their boundaries and rules. I’m telling you that’s the worst thing you can do. This will make your little one feel insecure because now not only is there a new person in the house, but now the rules are no longer the rules, and the expectations are not the same. It makes them feel really insecure. It also makes them push the boundaries harder because if they don’t know where the boundaries are, and they’re a little smoky, they’re going to push you harder to see where the clarity is, where the boundaries are. You will find that you will make the behavior of your youngest child very, if you start to back off, don’t do it. Reduce your guilt in other ways. For example, you can plan a special 30-minute outing with your toddler, just you and him, or you can spend 20 minutes just reading together. A lot of jealousy comes from being so busy with mom and this new guy that they don’t get enough attention, so a little drawing, even for a little while a day can really help reduce jealousy.
Also, if you’ve started the Sleep Sense app with your newborn, then it’s a great way to introduce your little one. For example, when my second or third child is born, he is out with the family, and then he goes to bed for a few hours. He can go out and be with his family. Then he leaves. It was always so exciting when the baby showed up because he usually slept in his room, and my little ones never saw him. Again, the jealousy comes in since now my mom has to enjoy the baby 24 hours a day, and I don’t get enough time or attention. Having a clear strategy, or preparing your baby and getting him to sleep well will help you with your problems. Another thing to remember is bedtime. Now it can be difficult because the child is still awake. Most babies, newborns wake up until Mom falls asleep on their own.
Again, this may be a little jealous of the baby being able to sleep, but I have to go to bed. The solution to this would be for either the father or one of the parents to take the child out at bedtime, to remove the infant’s mind from the newborn baby, so that the father can go into another room while you, have a good, good time with your little one at bedtime and stick to it. You have to make sure it’s time for bed. You can tell him, “The baby is asleep again,” to reduce that. I hope this gives you a few tips for visiting this new family member. Thank you very much for watching. Sleep well.
